Dear Mom and Pop

Well, today I got two letters, one dated the 17th and the other the 18th. First of all, Pa, here's an ultamatum - I won't write any more letters until I receive one saying you've had your teeth pulled - that's final. So now I guess I better make this a long one cause it will probably be some time before you do it. I guess Robin has gone to Florida by this time - I'm anxious to here where he goes. I sure hope that manilla folder hasn't been lost. Be sure and tell me as soon as you get it. Maybe you'll get it in time for xmas. So my mail is beginning to come in bunches too eh? That bad. I thought we were the only ones who had mail service like that. Let's see, I've gotten quite a few packages lately - one each from Lew's sister and a friend of Lew's that I met at El Paso, Con, Marge, Mae, Ella, Bunny and one from the block captain. Lew's sis sent us another box of cigars. Oh yes, I broke the pipe you sent so now I have none again. Please send me two pipes like the last one. Unk sent me a letter saying he had one on the way so I'm looking for it every day. It certainly looks like Son will go to the south Pacific - maybe I'll be home in time to go with him. That sure would be swell if I could go with him. I'd sure like to be a pilot on his crew. They're starting to check me out as first pilot but I won't fly 1st until Mack finishes. He's got four more missions than I have and Lew has seven more. The last four days it has rained steady. All we do is wallow around in the mud to and from class. Today we saw the sky for a change - the last time we flew was the 21st of last month so you can see what the weather has been like. So far I'm averaging 5 missions a month so it will take me some time to finish at that rate. Tonight I listened to the Army Navy game and it sue was good. There still was a USO show tonight to see too so we had quite an evening. This place is still a sea of mud even though it didn't rain today. We still haven't gone to rest camp. I'm beginning to wonder when we will go. I'm all OK now - I had a slight cold but it's just about gone now. Well, I've got lots of packages to answer so I better start now. I sent a surprise package home three days ago so be sure and tell me if you ever get it some time in Feb. Well, that's all for now so I'll close until Pa write his letter.

Love, Rae
