Say, how do you like my new fountain pen - cost me $9 - Shaeffer life time pen. It sure is nice. - I like it so I'm satisfied. Well I didn't get much satisfaction last night, but this is how it goes. The hotel cost $17 a week, not including meals. I think the rooms around here cost $5 a day but that's just my guess. I went to the U.S.O. but they didn't have anything. The upper class leaves this week so all their wives will be leaving too so I left my name at the desk asking for a room with kitchen privileges. The U.S.O. will call me as soon as they get something. I think the hotel would be best so if nothing good in the way of a room shows up I'll reserve a hotel room Since you insist on coming on the bus I am going to insist on the hotel and I am going to pay for it. So unless something very nice in the way of a room shows up you can plan on the hotel.

I can't tell you how many are here for it 's a military secret, but when we arrived we came 250 strong. As for the pictures I haven't even got them yet. I think they mixed up my order so they won't come after all. I sent my squadron picture home. Say, I got a letter from Bud and Lois today - he's in Florida like you said. Boy I like that he spends quite a time visiting you and all you say is that you saw him. Please tell me all about them. Say what are you doing now Pa - you said you had a new job - what is it?

Well there's nothing new in my flying. It sure is work flying in the afternoons. The air is rough and there are nothing but cross winds and tail winds to contend with. Well, enough for tonight - Good night -

P.S. We got our first months pay today. They gave me $142.50, then they took $64.50 for food so I ended up with $78. Well good night again.
