Sunday 19

Well I got out this weekend but I didn't do much. I went to Hemet last night and went to the show. After the show I went bowling. The town is a very pretty little town but there isn't much in it to do. There's a very nice hotel but there isn't anything to do. Well, here it is, I hope it's complete. During the month of October and November the weather is supposed to be bad up here. Lots of fog and wind I guess. So if the weather gets too bad we'll have to fly Sundays to make up for lost time and then we won't get any days off at all. So we can't plan on that. Next, if you're coming out I think it would be best to stay in L.A. with whoever it is you know there. I can come in Sat. evening and then I don't have to leave until 5 o'clock Sunday evening. A bus runs for us on the weekends direct to L.A. If you stayed in Hemet I could see you on the weekends and maybe Wednesday night. There are 8 squadrons and only two of them get off on Wednesday night so that's not sure. We can have visitors on Wed. evenings. If you do come to the camp you can see just the recreation and business areas. You can't see me fly - that's a strict rule. It takes a 100% concentration to fly. So if you're going to stay two or three weeks I think it would be best to stay in L.A. or even S.A. If you're planning to stay two or three weeks your best bet would be to get here on the 22nd of Oct. That would give you two weekends to see me and if I'm lucky I might get the 1st, 2 & 3 off.

Yes we have a radio in our room, even if we didn't I wouldn't want mine for I don't have much time to listen to it. You asked about calling me up. Yes, it's possible but here's the set up. You would have to call in the evening after 7 o'clock - that means after 10 o'clock your time. Monday nights we have flight meeting so that's out. On Tues. or Thurs. nights it varies we meet our instructor so those nights are out. On Wed. nights we have open post so that leaves Fri. night which isn't certain sooooo if you want to try - make it Thurs. or Fri. evening.

Well I've got one and a half hours of solo time so far. Pretty soon they'll check out a ship to me. And then I can go joy riding by myself.

I had to laugh at your last letter. All that stuff about Robin maybe all right in a normal peaceful life, but it's quite a different story now. I just wish you could be a boy of 20 years in the army and see what your ideas would be like. When you live a slow peaceful life it's quite different from a fast uncertain one, and that's the army. Did I tell you I picked out my picture proof - it was pretty good, I thought. I hope the pictures are as good.

Well, I guess that's all there is to say for now so I'll close.

Love,
Rae
