Dear Mom
Well today was a big day - the package arrived and also two letters. I had no idea the excitement a package from home could cause. Not only packages other guys get but your own. I felt like a kid on christmas even opening his first package. The cigars were as fresh as if I had just opened the box - I was really amazed. The pipe is perfect - I couldn't have picked out a better one myself. The soap can be used without saying. Lew and Mac both got two boxes each so we really had quite a day. The letters were dated the 17th and 18th which was pretty good time - only ten days.
I got a nice card from aunt Elsie and Uncle Art but haven't found time to answer yet - will probably do it tonight. I wrote uncle Roy quite the letter - you'll probably hear about it. I wrote to Robin at his old address so I doubt if he will get it. I trust you had a good time with Eunice and Tots while they were there - I hope you don't bore everyone by talking about me all the time. That package ought to get there soon cause I sent it first class. Did you get the letter asking about the glove sizes - be sure to send them thought I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to go to Naples again. I hope you're all right and didn't have any trouble with your tooth - I imagine it's still sore though.
You want to hear more about my missions. Well, there isn't much to tell about them. I have ten so far - I've been scheduled for quite a bit more than that but bad weather cancels a lot of them. When we're not on a mission we do absolutely nothing - putter around the tent - read - write letters or play cards. Occasionaly we have practice missions, but other than that our time is our own. Our crew is swell and Mac and Lew are my best friends. I don't get the Glen Ellyn News and what's more I don't care to. Yes Pa, we saw them washing the streets in the morning. They turn on the hydrants and a guy sweeps them down with a big broom. We don't have coganac but the champane was good. I'm afraid you're way out of my class in bowling with 194. I doubt if I could average 120. --- Pardon the interruption but we just put a tin tip on the tent around the stove pipe. Well we have to fly tomorrow so I'll hit the sack now - more later.
Love, Rae
P.S. Please send me Robin's address
