I'll bet this letter is a surprise. This morning we got up at 3:45 AM, fell out at 4:45 AM and went to chow. After we came back from chow we fell out with our packs for roll call. Then we were marched over to the orderly room. It was about 5;45 by then. We stood there for about ten minutes and then we were told that it was too cold to go and that we should fall back in the barracks. It was a rainy day schedule so we had lecture in the morning. At about 10 AM the cadets were called out to sign the payroll and traveling expense sheet. After chow we were taken to a lecture on chemical warfare and the correct way to use a gas mask. I'm sending a paper I got, maybe dad would be interested in it. We had to fall out for retreat in class B uniforms at 4:45 PM. I didn't go to chow tonight. I had a pint of ice cream and some candy bars. I got a letter from Bud and Sonny tonight. By the way, I sent my clothes home yesterday C.O.D. so be ready for it. I've been writing this letter while I've been listening to the hit parade. A guy has finally got his radio working and is it swell to listen to. We could get our passes tonight if we wanted but there is no reason to go to town so I didn't get mine. The boy next to me is shipping tomorrow. He thinks he's going to Chicago to radio school. He's a nice fellow and I sure hope he goes there. This camp is about one and a half times as big as Witicha Falls in population. We have tomorrow off and Monday we're going to the rifle range for sure unless the weather is still cold. That G__D__ north wind, why don't you keep it up there where it belongs. Tonight 11 fighter planes came in in formation and landed. I don't know what kind they were. Well, it's time for lights out so good night.
Love,
Rae
