March Friday 26, 1943

Well, I'm still leading the life of a rich man on a vacation. This morning we got up at 7 AM and then went to chow. After chow we went out on the field and had exercises for one and a half hours. At lunch we had fish, spinach, salad, and potatoes. After chow I laid around until 2 PM and then they took 30 of us to town for hair cuts. Well when we got to town they gave us 40 minutes and I didn't get one. About half of us didn't have time. I waited and had my shoes shined but when I was I wouldn't make it I went to the post office and had my money order cashed. Got back here at 3:30 and now will lay around until supper. Tonight they said they would have some entertainment for us. Last night we all went over to the auditorium and saw some movies that we have all seen at least once. They were on the articles of war and personal hygiene. It's the third time I've seen them. We saw the articles of war first then we were given a break of 10 minutes and before the next reel started a guy played the piano for us. Well, anyway, there were some high school kids sitting in the auditorium and when the show was ready to start the capt. said "Will all the ladies please leave the auditorium now." Well, there were two cute girls in front of me and they started to blush. They got out pretty fast but did they blush. Everyone got a kick out of that. Well, the latest is that we won't start classes until the 1st of April. Today it was very warm, the sun came out and chased away the dampness. It was so warm the students in the gym classes went out in shorts. and the boys didn't wear shirts. That ought to give a good idea of the weather. Say, you could send me a good pair of sunglasses. The glare is pretty bright here as there are a number of white buildings and lots of cement walks. Well, that's all for now so I'll close.

Love,
Rae
