Well, surprise, here's my monthly letter. I've had a cold so I haven't been flying lately - it's just about gone now though. I also had a boil on the side of my puss bit it's OK now too. There certainly isn't much to write about. I haven't done anything different in so long it's funny. I got the three packages today and everything was swell. I guess I'm all fixed up now for the duration. Say, woman, don't you ever stay home in the day time - I've tried to call three times last week but to no avail. They moved our date of departure from here to the 24th which is just seven days from today. If you want to see me the only thing I can think of is for you to go to Omaha by the 25th and then if I am sent to Topeka you can come down to see me. There's a very slim chance that I will be sent to Lincoln. If they give us a leave from here there's no hope because it's too far and - well you just couldn't make it so the only thing is to hope I don't get a leave from here and that I do get one from staging. I can stay at staging anywhere from one to ten days, so there's nothing definite there either. Well, it's a gay world if you don't weaken. I've been lax on my letter writing getting you in shape for when I gove over. I'm sorry that Robin is getting married - poor guy. I also feel sorry for Connie for coming down to this God forsaken country. Boy I'd give anything to get back to Chi. once more. We processed the other day - it's just red tape for the records. I made out an allotment to you of $150 per month starting the first of Sept. which is for the months starting the first of Sept which is for the month of August. There's nothing to do with your money over seas and if I had it I would just spend it. It's for you to do whatever you want to do with it. That picture idea is nice only you should have thought of it last March or April. Oh, yes, something did happen of interest. Lew took us into El Paso and introduced us to two of the cutest Chinese girls I've ever met - sisters. They opened a canteen in their basement for Chinese boys stationed in this area - it's quite small but certainly is nice. They have a juke box, a soft drink bar, and some slot machines. It's fixed up quite nice and the girls certainly are swell, full of fun and energy. I think when I get married I'll marry a Chinese girl. Lew's godmother is having us all for supper tomorrow night which will be quite nice. Well, I guess that did finish up the news except that we fly Wed., Thurs., and Friday of this week, three days straight. Say, Pa, don't work too hard in hot weather, there will be cooler days to come. You know there's one thing I'm hoping for and that is that the Russians get into Germany before we do. That really ought to be interesting. I'll tell you another thing, the Japs will be licked long before you expect it. That's going to surprise lots of people. I don't figure on getting home for about a year and a half and when I do come home the war will be over. Just see how close I come calling it. Well I guess I'll say goodnight for now.

Love,
Rae
