Well, I'm not so well. I've still got my cold but not still grounded. I've flown the last three days and it hasn't bothered me. I have to go on sick call in the morning for a checkup. I'm starting on instruments already and have 2 hours and 20 minutes so far. I start on the radio beam tomorrow. I haven't got much to tell about flying because there's nothing new - just the same old stuff in a different plane. I turned in my sizes for my flying equipment last week. We get a big heavy winter suit, a summer flying suit and a light leather jacket - all GI. They also issue us our own parachute and a traveling bag. One of those classy folding ones. I'm not certain yet which choice I'll make. I'm kinda half decided though. The army is so damn uncertain you don't know where you are. I'm afraid if I choose Misc. they'll make a flight officer out of me. Say, how much money have I sent home? I've forgotten and I'd like to know so I know how much to plan on, as Robin said, furloughs are so damn expensive. Has Unk found a place where I can rent a car yet? How much gas does the Ration Board give you for 10 days? As for coming home, I will try to fly but will probably end up coming on the train. The chance of flying is all luck. If a plane is going my way at the right time, OK, otherwise, I walk. Pa, you want to know if you should come out. Well, I don't know how badly you want to see me graduate. If you really want to come, come ahead but it would be hard getting a ride back. You'd just get here and we'd turn around and go back. Then there's always the chance of me getting a plane. Personally I don't think the time and money spent is worth while. But I'm not a father and so I don't know how you feel about it. As far as all this training goes, I'd never do it again. If the guys really knew what they were getting into they would never get a cadet in the air corps. Boy, how I wish I had gotten in the navy. Well, enough of that. Pa, I don't want to say you can't come if you want to come but to my side of the picture it wouldn't be worth it. So I'll leave it to you - come if you want to otherwise I'll hurry home,

I got a nice letter from Auntie Berry today and one from Ann Carroll yesterday. I haven't written sooner because I've had a cold and was feeling pretty bad. I wrote one letter but it was so bad I didn't mail it. I'll try and do better. As soon as we finish ground school things will be easier. Well, it's getting late - about time for chow so I'll close for now.

Love,
Rae
