Well, here's a short note before bed. Just got out of class and have a half hour before lights out. I've been so damn busy. We leave for Yuma the end of this week - boy I'm glad - anything to get away from this post. It's just as rotten as ever. We finish ground school on Sat. so that will be out of the way. Sure hope I get by OK. We start night flying tomorrow night - that will be fun. Just about through with instruments now. Two more hours to go, ought to finish tomorrow. Say, I got the cookies OK didn't I tell you? I got the papers too - sure appreciated them, but was too busy to even look at them. When I get mail I usually have to carry it in my pocket two or three hours before I get a chance to read it. Say, you better let aunti and Unk read my letters or I'll have to start making carbon copies. I'm sorry you didn't get me Sunday but I had to fly in the afternoon and then school at night. Say, let's not make a habit of this telephone business. I got my fill of telephones in high school. But seriously, I have to wait two to three hours every time you call. With my time so precious it's hard to do, especially with no time off. You asked some questions - If possible I'd like to come home to Glen Ellyn on my leave. I've grown rather fond of the place since I've been away. Ground school is just about over and I'm not worrying about it anymore. I sure wish I could get home sooner so I could see Bob. I'm afraid I'll have to take the Streamliner that leaves on the 14th - that will get me home about the time Robin goes back to camp. Maybe we can go out on the night of the 16th. I ought to be home by then. We'll go out and get stinkeyed together. Is Unk still on the lookout for a place to rent a car? I haven't had time to write and ask him. Haven't even had time to write Doris - This god damn army. Oh, I bought a book that I'm going to send you as soon as possible. It's full of pictures and shows all the shit I've been through the last 12 months. Tell all about the training and stuff. Say Pa, better start finding a blond for me too, 12 months is a long time in the army. We'll give my love to all and tell Unie I'll write just as soon as possible - how is she - both of them? Well, lights were supposed to be out 15 minutes ago so I better close.

Love,
Rae
