Today is Sunday and a day of rest. On Sunday you can write letters all day. Yesterday we drilled all morning. There was nothing out of the ordinary to mention except one of the boys from our barracks passed out from the shot we had yesterday. A flock of wild ducks passed over the drill field flying north. There were quite a few and they kept close formation. In the afternoon we went out to the cow pasture and had exersizes. They were mostly bending and waiste excersizes. After these we had to run to the obstacle course about a half a mile away. After we went through its course we had to run back to our original spot. From there we were marched to the barracks. It was about 3:00 PM and then we went to mump inspection. All you have to do for mump inspection is to turn down your collar and walk by the doctor. After that we're free until retreat at 4:40. We had to wear our class B uniforms for retreat. Our OD's plus our flight jacket instead of our blouse with no leggins. OD stands for Olive drab, our winter uniforms. After chow I read my soldiers handbook until 7:15 when I went to the show with three of the fellows. I saw Margin For Error and that Walt Disneys show about south America. We got to bed about 10:00 PM. This morning we didn't get up until 6:00 AM and we didn't have to prepare for inspection. We have all day off. This morning we were having a real dust storm. It was so think you couldn't see a building a block away. It's still blowing and windy but it isn't so dusty. It got quite cool today too. It only cost fifteen cents to see a show, three cents for a candy bar, twelve cents for a pint of ice cream, and four cents for a coke. Texas is a dry state but you can buy beer on the field in any P.X. (post exchange). It is supposed to be 3.2. I got your letter yesterday from Robins house. Tell him to send me the school paper. That's all for now.
Love,
Rae
