Feb - 1943 Wed 24

Well, yesterday was another easy day. After breakfast we went to another lecture and movie. The movie was on marching and drilling so was the lecture. After the lecture we went to chow and after chow we had the afternoon off. I read a newspaper and then slept all afternoon because we were told to report at 6:00 PM for a test. I took a shower before chow so I was refreshed and already for the test. We were marched to the south end of the field to a class room with desks in it. The test lasted until 10:30 P.M. It covered math, physics, and current history. The math covered trig, and advanced geometry and algebra. There was a lot of physics too. The test was divided into four parts and you were given so much time for each part. I finished one of the parts in the alotted time. But I'm not worrying because nobody else finished either. I didn't find any problems I couldn't do as far as I went. Boy are there the bunch of rock heads here as cadets. They are really dumb. This test was supposed to help classify you as a pilot, bombardier or navigator. We have a interview tonight for the same purpose. The top 10% in the test go to preflight while the rest go to college. According to roomer we won't be here much more than a month. I'm all well from my sunburn but I caught a cold last night taking the test. I was sitting in a draft. This morning we marched for the first time. We learned the fundamentals. We were supposed to march this afternoon but somebody messed up orders so we had this afternoon off too. I went over to the service club, it sure is nice. They've got just about everything in it. I bought next Sundays Examiner today, pretty good, eh? Well, I have to go to my interview now so I'll mail this on the way and write more later.

Love, Rae
