Well it came today and I was very pleased with it. I won't get it engraved until I get to advanced - I think I'll have one link taken out. It sure is just like I wanted - nice and heavy with large links.
Say today I had my instrument check and when we got down he said I gave him a very good ride. It's really something when they say that on a check ride. I have just two hours and 25 minutes to go before I finish. Tonight I had my code and navigation final so now I'm all through with ground school. I'll finish my flying in the morning so we won't have much to do for the rest of our stay here. I told you I'd tell you where I was going in this letter so here it is. I'm headed for Stockton - it's somewhere up near San Francisco. Do you know anybody that lives up there? I don't know what we'll fly up there - AT17s probably. That's a two engine trainer that's ugly as hell. It has a short nose and two engines big enough for B17s. Today I had time to waste so I climbed up to ten thousand feet. It was quite cloudy today with an overcast at 5,000 feet so it was quite pretty. The tops are pure white and fluffy and every so often a cloud sticks up higher than the rest and looks like a mountain or snow pile. Was it cold up there - 10 degrees C - I had to use carboreter heat to prevent icing.
Well we are getting two days off for New Years - Sat. and Sun. We graduate on the 4th and leave on the 5th or 6th. We get off tomorrow night and don't have to be back until Sunday night. Well it's time for bed so I'll sign off for now.
Love,
Rae
