December 27, 1943

Well here I am back in the old groove. Boy I sure did have a nice Christmas. But I guess you know everything I got so I'll just tell you what Doris sent me. Oh yes, the Penny's sent me a box of cookies - please send me their address. First of all Doris sent me a large box of cookies and fudge which were very good. Then I got a second box that was almost a grab bag. There were two funny books, a kit book, some razor blades, a leather folder with two pictures of Doris in it - it's about 4 by 6, some nuts and a lead pencil. Every thing was wrapped separate even the nuts and it was all in a large blue celephane stocking. Boy I sure do like the pictures. I got a bottle of cologne and a picture album from Mae - I will send the album home for you to keep. I got nice gifts from all my relations - thank them for me and tell them I will write just as soon as possible. That was too bad about the robbery - I get paid Friday so I'll be sending some money home soon. If you need any don't hesitate to use it. You'll probably need some when you move anyway. I guess you will be moving soon won't you? I got a Xmas card from Elmhurst College which was quite nice. Say, in my next letter I ought to know where I'm going. I will probably be up near San Francisco somewhere. Oh yes, Doris also sent me some stationary - I almost forgot. They really got us back in the groove in a hurry. I flew four hours today and tomorrow I fly all day. They're really pouring it on us. Oh we get two days off for New Years - Sat. and Sun. I can't understand all this free time. Well I'm tired and it's time for bed so I'll close for now.

Love,
Rae
