Dear Mom,

Well this is the second time I've started this letter. The first one I wrote on both sides of the paper before I remembered that they censor my mail now, so I figure better use only one side. I'm happy that I'm finally on my way - I was afraid that the war would be over before I got there. We don't know where we are going yet - I wish they would hurry up and tell us. We had a swell trip up here and you should see this country. These New England states are really all right. The air is cool and the pine trees scent the air so much you can even smell it inside the buildings. It's so cool tonight I have to sleep under a blanket. I wanted to call Sonny from here but they won't let us cable or phone at all. Did you get the crew picture I sent - how do you like "Little Mac?" Well it's late and I can't think of anything else to write now so I'll close.

Love,
Rae
