Dear Mom,

Well I'm certainly mad at you - I called up last night and twice today and you weren't home either time. I can't use the shoes so I guess they'll be returned. I've been so busy I didn't even have time to pick them up. I sent my summer suit home for I didn't think I could use it. They didn't have those new type field jackets at this place so I couldn't get one for Unk. When we got here they gave us Wed. and Thurs. off so we all stayed in town and played golf those two days. Here are some pictures of the crew and our ship. I am sending a big one C.O.D. That sure is some picture ain't it. The ship is a Ford and it sure is sweet. We flew a calibration mission yesterday and now we leave tonight. I don't know where I'll go but we have a good idea it will either be England or Italy with the emphasis on Italy. We sure did get the equipment here - a little bit of everything. They told us what we could take and then they gave us a duffel bag which is sent over by boat and you could put anything you want in it. We were lucky to get a ship because half of the guys went by boat. We loaded our ship at noon today and then we all moved to one barracks. We had to stay in it from 4 PM until 11 PM when we go for supper, then we go to the line and get briefed and leave. We will stop at the coast and there we get more equipment. I don't know when you will hear from me again. I'll write from the P.O.E. but I don't know when they will mail it besides it will be censored. What did you and Pop do for the rest of your vacation?

Love,
Rae
