Dear Mom,

I sent a Vmail letter today and I'm wondering how long it will take to get there - all that was in it was my address and cable address. It's my official address, the other one was wrong. We still haven't done much - we just go to lectures and loaf all day - we still don't have a tent so we can't work on it. We have a PX today every Friday and we get only so much - a weeks rations of eight packs of cigarettes, four candy bars, soap, pipe tobacco, and a can of chocolates. That's about all we get. Then we have a ration card that is good in the PX in town where we can get all kinds of stuff. The weather isn't too hot in the day and nice and cool in the evening. Last night there was a stage show by some Britishers and it was pretty good. All male cast but it was still good. We're going to the show again tonight - that's about all there is to do in the evening. I play cribbage with Dan quite a bit. We get four to six bottles of beer a week and a whiskey ration once a month. The first missions the crew goes on I don't fly - an old timer flys in my place and gets the skipper checked out and the crew used to it. If we get about half our missions in before the war ends we have a good chance of coming home early instead of going on to the the far east. Of course I'm just dreaming but that's OK. Well it's about time to go to the show so I'll close this for now and will write more later.

Love,
Rae
