Dear Folks,
Well, I imagine you've aged about ten years in the last few days. I sure was mad when I found out they had sent an MIA on me. They knew we were safe after the second day, I can't tell much but here's some of it. We went to Vienna and over the target we lost two engines. We got over the Russian lines and landed OK. Nobody was even scratched. We were treated well and had a good time. Who would think I'd be spending Easter in Hungary? I bought a camera while I was there, a pretty nice one too. I got a complete set of coins for Uncle Roy, too.
Well, yesterday Mac and the boys finished up so they will be going home pretty soon. I've still got four to go and next week I'll be off to rest camp again so it will be some time before I finish. Seems like I will be home in June. When I got back here to camp I had lots of letters and packages waiting so I can't tell you when they arrived. The shoes are swell but I'm mad that you used one of your shoe stamps. The pipe was OK so now I have three which ought to last me a while.
The books with the pictures got here too - the pictures are swell. I also got the magazines with the Esquire. I'm sure sorry I can't tell you any more but just wait until I get home, then you will hear it all. Now for your questions, oh yes don't send any more packages; if you want to send packages, send them to Robin. I haven't flown in Little Mac for a long time. I fly in the newest planes because I fly lead position in the formation. I wrote to Ruth Jean last but never got an answer. I don't know how many people I write to, about 12, I guess. I send my laundry to the wops. I got the addresses about umpteen times. I think it costs about $5, I don't remember for sure. Yes, I pay for my chow. I don't know how much I'll get 'cause I haven't been paid yet - I haven't the slightest idea how much I weigh. The food is all right - meat every day twice a day. The wool socks are fine; no I don't need any more. No more sweaters either - it's Spring over here. My goodness, what a question bee that was, The reason you don't get an Easter card was that I couldn't mail one from Hungary.
So here's a late greeting - Happy Easter. I guess you are happy to get this letter or am I conceited? I sure hope this gets to you in record time. I suppose you'll be grey haired by the time I get home. Well, I can't say don't worry but I will be home by June so just wait a little longer. That's all for tonight and don't think I haven't been worried about you worrying.
All my love,
Rae
